Austin Rainbow Theatre relies on enthusiastic individuals just like you to achieve our mission of providing quality LGBTQIA+ theatre experiences to the Austin community.
When you join the Friends of Dorothy, you not only help bring LGBTQIA+ theatre to life, you become part of a community of some of the best and brightest people in Austin theatre and LGBTQIA+ outreach.
Eligibility
To be a Friend of Dorothy, volunteers must be 18+ years of age and be a resident of the Austin metropolitan area. Ushers, House Managers, and Box Office must also have access to a smart phone that is capable of downloading and utilizing our ticketing application (ThunderTix).
Volunteer Opportunities
House Management
Supervise all front-of-house operations and be the point of contact for all guest relations.
Ushering
Ushers are the face of Austin Rainbow Theatre at our productions. You will ensure that guests have a wonderful experience throughout the show. Greet guests upon arrival, scan tickets, and help with all front-of-house related tasks.
Box Office
Work our ticketing booth, sell tickets at the door, and hand out any special information.
Special Events
Be part of ART’s fundraising and outreach events. Volunteer opportunities for special events vary widely depending on the nature of the event.
Marketing
Be part of the team that gets the word out about our productions and events. Marketing opportunities include poster runs, brand representation at events, and other miscellaneous marketing tasks.
