We welcome and encourage students or early-career technicians looking to build their professional portfolios and gain hands-on experience in a high-energy production environment.

Pay: Stipend

Role Overview: We are looking for a Sound Engineer to manage the live mix for Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Extensive theatrical experience is not required, but a solid foundation in live sound engineering is essential. If you’ve mixed live bands in clubs, bars, or studios and want to transition those skills to the stage, this is the perfect role for you.

  • Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform a full soundcheck with the live band (Drums, Bass, Guitar, Keys) and vocalists.

    • Live-mix the band against the lead and backup vocals to ensure the “rock” energy remains while keeping lyrics intelligible.

    • Manage the balance of wireless microphones and stage monitors.

  • Requirements:

    • Strong understanding of signal flow, EQ, compression, and gain structure.

    • Experience mixing live musical acts in any venue type.

    • Reliability and a “show must go on” attitude

    • Dates Needed: * Tech Week: March 23 – 26 (6:00 PM – 10:00 PM)

    • Performances: March 27 – April 11

Pay: Volunteer Preferred–  Stipend available

Role Overview: We are looking for a focused and rhythmic Spotlight Operator to provide the literal “glow” for Hedwig. Since the show relies heavily on the lead’s movement and interaction with the audience, you are responsible for following the action with precision and smooth transitions.

  • Key Responsibilities:

    • Execute pick-ups and fades as called by the Stage Manager.

    • Maintain a steady “follow” on the lead performer, adjusting iris and focus on the fly.

    • Operate color frames/gels for specific musical numbers.

  • Requirements:

    • Ability to remain focused for long periods in a dark, elevated environment.

    • Strong sense of timing (you’ll be following a rock beat!).

      • Dates Needed: * Tech Week: March 23 – 26 (6:00 PM – 10:00 PM)

      • Performances: March 27 – April 11

Pay: Volunteer Preferred — Stipend available

Role Overview: We are looking for a reliable individual to trigger the visual media and animations that bring Hedwig to life. You won’t need to worry about the “tech heavy” setup or troubleshooting—all projectors and software will be pre-configured by our lead technical team. Your job is to sit at the console and hit “Go” in sync with the live band and dialogue.

  • Key Responsibilities:

    • Trigger video cues, animations, and still images during the performance.

    • Follow the script and Stage Manager’s cues to ensure visuals line up with the music.

  • Requirements:

    • No prior technical experience required.

    • Strong focus and the ability to follow a fast-paced live show.

    • Must be comfortable using a computer (hitting a spacebar or “Go” button).

      • Dates Needed: * Tech Week: March 23 – 26 (6:00 PM – 10:00 PM)

      • Performances: March 27 – April 11

Pay: Volunteer

Role Overview: Are you a student or theater enthusiast looking to get your hands dirty and see how a rock musical works from behind the scenes? We are looking for energetic volunteers to join our Backstage Crew! You are the “invisible” engine of the show—moving set pieces, assisting with prop hand-offs, and helping Hedwig with those iconic wig and costume changes.

  • Key Responsibilities:

    • Execute set changes quickly and quietly between musical numbers.

    • Assist performers with prop hand-offs and quick-change costume needs.

    • Maintain the safety and organization of the “backstage” area during the high-energy performance.

  • Requirements:

    • No experience required! We will train you on everything you need to know.

    • Must be able to move around in low-light settings (wearing all black).

    • A positive, team-player attitude and a love for live performance.

      • Dates Needed: * Tech Week: March 23 – 26 (6:00 PM – 10:00 PM)

      • Performances: March 27 – April 11

For Students: We are happy to sign off on community service hours or internship credits for any of the above roles. This is a great way to build your resume on a professional-caliber production of a cult-classic musical!
