By the Tony Award-winning creators of FalsettosA New Brain is a life-affirming musical about creativity, mortality, and the messy, beautiful transformation that happens when you’re forced to face yourself. Composer Gordon Schwinn is stuck—creatively and emotionally. But when a sudden collapse lands him in the hospital with a potentially terminal diagnosis, his world shifts overnight. Haunted (sometimes literally) by a tyrannical frog puppet named Mr. Bungee, Gordon confronts the music he never finished, the relationships he’s taken for granted, and the life he’s been too scared to fully live.

As doctors prod and nurses sing, as lovers and mothers clash at the bedside, Gordon journeys through hallucination, fear, rage, and—ultimately—renewal. A New Brain is a surreal, darkly funny meditation on what it means to choose life, to change, and to reclaim your voice.

A celebration of queer identity, artistic purpose, and the raw vulnerability of becoming, this musical pulses with transformation—where illness becomes awakening, and every note is a step toward something more honest, more joyful, more alive.
